Literature Text

Mariotehplumber enjoyed the brief moments of obliviousness when he awoke, but quickly the dread of interacting with Rosalina's father quickly set in.  Trying to prolong the inevitable, Mariotehplumber slowly got up, made the bed, spent five minutes deciding what pair of blue overalls he was going to wear, and eventually made his way to the living room.

Rosalina, her father and the children were back from their day out.  Rosalina caught Mariotehplumber's eye and gave him a faint smile, Shigeru Miyamoto, Rosalina's father, was not so kind.  He was quick to call Mariotehplumber a layabout and a bludger, happy to sleep the day away while his wife did the chores and took care of the children.  Rosie tried explaining that her husband hadn't slept well that night, but her father didn't pay her any attention.

Mariotehplumber ignored his father-in-law's insults, instead he chose to talk to Bubsytehbobcat about his day.  Mariotehplumber heard all about how his son got to run around parks and the shops all day.  Bubsytehbobcat also pulled out an extremely large ball of yarn, exclaiming that his grandad had bought it for him while they were out.  This annoyed Mariotehplumber, who felt that Mr. Miyamoto was deliberately trying to undermine his parenting.

While Bubsytehbobcat was busy throwing his new ball of yarn around, Rosie's father took another shot at his son-in-law.  He said that the children would respect their father more if he listened to their needs.  Mariotehplumber replied by saying that he did listen to their needs, he just didn't want to unnecessarily spoil his children so they would grow up appreciating what they had.  Mr. Miyamoto's response was that the children could never appreciate their useless layabout father.

At that point, something in Mariotehplumber broke.  Scooping up Bubsythebobcat, Mariotehplumber stormed out the castle.
