The day of Tails' 1-Up ceremony, Mariotehplumber and his wife, Rosalina, took a Sling Star to the SEGA Academy.  On their arrival they were greeted by the headmaster, Gilius Thunderhead.  The headmaster let the parents through the school to his office, where he offered them refreshments of meat and magic potions before settling down to discuss Tails' education. One day Mariotehplumber and his beloved wife, Rosalina, received a very formal letter in the Toad Mail.  Examining the envelope, Rosie noticed that the sender was the SEGA Academy.  This worried her, was her son, Tails, in trouble?  Was he hurt?  Is he failing in his studies and is being kicked out? She brought the letter to her husband, who told her not to worry until after they had read the letter.  From the mantelpiece, Mariotehplumber took down a spike from a Spiny shell which he used to open letters, a souvenir from a previous adventure.  After slicing open the top of the letter, Mariotehplumber pulled out a letter and a piece of card.

Mariotehplumber didn't know what to do, it had been several weeks since he had kicked Rosalina's father out of their home and she was still feeling miserable.  She barely slept, had to be coaxed into eating and taking a shower.  She spent all her time in the bedroom with the curtains closed, and often crying.  Mariotehplumber tried talking to her, but she wouldn't respond to him, he asked Peach and Daisy to invite her out, but she wouldn't take their calls, he also tried getting the kids to interact with her, even going so far as to bring Tails home from the SEGA Academy for a weekend, but that didn't work either. Mariotehplumber stormed into his home, with his son, Bubsytehbobcat, in tow.  Rosalina ran into the hall and gave her husband a hug.  She expressed relief that they were both home, she was worried that they wouldn't have been back that night.  Mariotehplumber apologised to his wife for making her worry and asked her where her father was.  Rosie told her husband that her father was in the living room and asked him what he was going to do, but her question fell on deaf ears as her husband was already making his way to the living room to confront his father-in-law. Mariotehplumber took Bubsytehbobcat to Luigitehplumber's house.  He figured that his brother would be the best person to talk to, as he had also worked for Rosalina's father and had seen the change that came over him when Mariotehplumber had married his daughter. It was a short trip, Bubsytehbobcat didn't understand why they left in such a hurry, but he quickly forgot his concerns when he was told that they were going to his uncle's house.  Once he pair passed through the gate of Luigitehplumber's property, Bubsytehbobcat raced up the path to the front door and began pounding on it.  Luigitehplumber opened his front door to the beaming face

Mariotehplumber enjoyed the brief moments of obliviousness when he awoke, but quickly the dread of interacting with Rosalina's father quickly set in.  Trying to prolong the inevitable, Mariotehplumber slowly got up, made the bed, spent five minutes deciding what pair of blue overalls he was going to wear, and eventually made his way to the living room. Mariotehplumber went to bed exhausted that night, the browbeating he had received from his father-in-law, Shigeru Miyamoto, was the worst he had experienced to date.  When Rosalina got in to bed she snuggled up close to her husband, gave him a kiss, and thanked him for his restraint.  She Mariotehplumber that she wasn't sure how long her father was going to be staying, but she would do her best to keep them apart. Mariotehplumber opened the front doors to the castle.  Rosalina's father shoved his luggage into Mariotehplumber's arms, not saying a single word to his son-in-law, and greeted his daughter and grandson, Bubsytehbobcat with hugs and kisses.  Sighing, Mariotehplumber took the luggage to one of the guest rooms and went to the living room where his family had migrated to.
